Het is ons op de valreep gelukt om terug te liften naar Funchal! Op een gegeven moment werd het bijna donker en toen werden we toch nog opgepikt door 2 aardige mensen uit Oekraine. Onderweg kwamen we weer een mooi uitkijkpunt tegen! Thuis in Funchal hebben we de vakantie afgesloten bij onze favoriete cocktailtent. De vliegreis terug was best wel verschrikkelijk. We moesten de nacht doorbrengen op een marmeren vloer in Lissabon. Maar eenmaal thuis konden we net zo lang uitslapen als we wilden dus zo erg was het nou ook weer niet😅 en de reis naar Madeira was de beste reis die ik ooit gemaakt heb in mn leven dus🥰

We managed to hitchhike back to Funchal at the last minute! At one point it almost got dark and then we were picked up by 2 nice people from Ukraine. On the way we came across another beautiful viewpoint! Back home in Funchal, we ended the holiday at our favorite cocktail bar. The flight back was pretty awful. We had to spend the night on a marble floor in Lisbon. But once at home we could sleep in as long as we wanted so it wasn’t that bad 😅 Madeira was the best travel ever in my life!!!

Vandaag was de laatste volle dag in Madeira. We gingen mee met een jeeptour maar die was eigelijk best stom. We kwamen vooral langs uitkijkpunten en bij elk punt bleven we maar heel kort en we hoorden dat we ook maar 20 minuten bij het Fanal Bos zouden blijven terwijl we de hele jeeptour hadden geboekt voor dat bos. Dus we besloten bij het bos uit te stappen en verder te kijken hoe we zelf terug konden komen. Maar in deze post komen we nog langs de punten voordat we bij het bos aankwamen. Vooral de vulkanische baden waren wel echt prachtig. En we zijn ook nog even door de modder gereden dat was ook erg leuk!

Today was the last full day in Madeira. We went on a jeep tour but it was actually pretty stupid. We mainly passed viewpoints and at each point we only stayed very briefly and we heard that we would only stay at the Fanal Forest for 20 minutes as we had booked the whole jeep tour for that forest. So we decided to get out at the forest and continue to see how we could get back on our own. But in this post, we’ll get to the points before we got to the forest. Especially the volcanic baths were really beautiful. And we also drove through the mud for a while, which was also very nice

Vandaag werden we half 5 smorgens opgehaald en naar de hoogste berg van Madeira gebracht. Daar hebben we eerst de sterrenhemel bekeken. Ik heb nog nooit zoveel sterren gezien en de melkweg en ook zelfs 3 vallende sterren!! Daarna zijn we in een 1.5 uur naar de top geklommen om de zonsopgang te bewonderen. De wandeling was ongelofelijk zwaar, want de lucht was heel ijl en ik ben helemaal geen hellingen gewend. Maar het uitzicht was echt zooo ongelofelijk mooi!!! Echt van een andere wereld!!!

Today we were picked up at half past five in the morning and taken to the highest mountain of Madeira. There we first looked at the starry sky. I have never seen so many stars and the milky way and even 3 shooting stars!! Then we climbed to the top in 1.5 hours to admire the sunrise. The walk was incredibly hard, because the air was very thin and I am not used to slopes at all. But the view was really sooo incredibly beautiful!!! Truly from another world!!!

Elk parkje wat je inloopt in Funchal is gewoon een wonder aan bloemen en planten. Planten die je thuis als kamerplant hebt groeien hier buiten maar dan 1000 keer zo groot. En een lullig stukje groen onder een viaduct is hier al mooier dan mijn paradijstuin. Als ik hier vertel dat ik een paradijstuin heb, is niemand van dan ook echt van onder indruk haha. Het is hier gewoon vanzelf al…of nouja vanzelf volgens mij heeft Funchal wel heel veel tuinmannen die alle parken onderhouden.

Every park you enter in Funchal is simply a wonder of flowers and plants. Plants that you have at home as houseplants grow outside here, but then 1000 times as large. And a lousy piece of green under a viaduct here is more beautiful than my paradise garden. When I tell here that I have a paradise garden, no one is really impressed haha. It just comes naturally here… or well, I think Funchal has a lot of gardeners who maintain all the parks.

Vandaag zijn we naar de beroemde markt gegaan!! Echt prachtig al die schalen met fruit en alle kleuren! Maar je kon beter niks kopen want je betaald zo 10 euro voor 1 stukje fruit. Die halve dragonfruit op het eind was €6.50. Maar we konden er wel heel erg om lachen hahaha

Today we went to the famous market!! Really beautiful all those bowls with fruit and all colors! But it was better not to buy anything because you pay 10 euros for 1 piece of fruit. That half dragon fruit at the end was €6.50. But we had a good laugh about it haha

Vandaag zijn we met de boot meegegaan om wilde dolfijnen te spotten. Was echt ook weer zo geweldig! Op het laatst konden we alleen niet het water weer in, want er waren ineens overal Portugese oorlogschepen. Die zijn heel giftig!

Today we went by boat to spot wild dolphins. It was really great again! In the end we just couldn’t get back into the water, because there were suddenly Portuguese warships everywhere. They are very poisonous!
